INFO ABOUT THE INN: So you hike up to the Inn. The inn is primitive. There are no tv's, the walls are plywood and there are no phones. Thats one building. They are basically bunk beds. The next building is the Bath House with showers and commodes (side note they are not flushers Just a long satisfying drop to the abyss below). But you can shower too (there is plenty of nice hot water).
The next building is the meal place THE MEALS ARE INCLUDED AND DELICIOUS. You eat your meals together family style. You know pass the food etc. Unlike your family you need to be nice and get along with these people.
The next building is like a big social gathering place. Play games, talk and they will have a big wood burning stove going so your toasty warm. The next morning, this is optional, you can get up and watch the sunrise... it is so beautiful and there is something warm and fussy about drinking coffee with dear friends and watching the sun come up together.
Go with us this time. Worst thing that can happen on this trip is your eater by a bear. LOL!!! Book your room now.... Waiting list for Len Foote Hike Inn is a year out if you try to call and book on your own. CSC has 10 (stratch that) 9 ROOMS available... 1 is already taken. Get your room... details below.

Len Foote Hike is never canceled due to rain. The Hike Inn cancelation policy has changed. I have 10 rooms held for Friday Oct. 16th, 2026. The Hike Inn is under new management and things have changed so please read the following:
Those of you going MUST call and book your room 706-344-1547 ask for Kim. You MUST tell them you are with Chattanooga SKI Club to get one of the rooms Barb Wise has on hold. If you need to cancel your room you MUST call at least 7 days before your arrival date Oct. 16th, 2026, for a refund minus $10 cancellation fee. There is NO REFUND if you cancel 6 days before the arrival date.
This is also new for 2026... the 10 rooms that I have on hold are in my name. I must cancel any rooms not taken by September 15th, 2026,or they will bill rooms that have not been booked to me.... YAP!!! I will not let that happen.
This is a rather long email, however very important that you read before the Len Foote Hike-Inn trip. Please reply to me which option you are choosing below!!! We don’t want anyone left behind.
We have 4 options for getting to the Hike-Inn.
- Option 1 is to meet us for breakfast at Oakwood Cafe,@ 8:45am (local mom & pop resturant that has been in Dalton, Ga for 500 years, well maybe 100 years, OK! for real over 50 years), 201 W. Cuyler St. Dalton, Ga 30720. After breakfast we will caravan (not carpool) to Hike Inn. If you want to carpool make those arragements before you get to resturant.
- Option 2 is for those of you who don't want to eat, but will join the breakfast group at Oakwook Cafe to caravan to Amicalola Falls, leaving Oakwood at 9:30 am.
- Option 3 is to meet us at the Visitors Center @ Amicalola Falls State Park, 280 Amicalola Falls tate Park Road, Dawsonville, Ga 30534 @ 11:00 am to sign-in, drive up the hill, park, and hike together.
- Option 4 is to go on your own, and we'll see you at the Hike-Inn.
Remember, everyone MUST ALL REGISTER BEFORE GETTING ON THE TRAIL (at the Visitors Center @ Amicalola Falls just inside the main gate (before driving up the hill to where we park and the trail starts).
This is very important….****** NOTE**** When you arrive at the park gate, DO NOT PAY to come into the park, be sure and tell the Park Ranger that you are spending the night at Len Foote Hike-Inn. You will pay your parking fee when you register at the Visitor Center.

Also, Hike-Inn has asked for a $10 cash tip from each person. Please do this, the tip is divided between ALL STAFF, cooks, waiters, bathroom cleaners, property cleaners, laundry people, front desk, yard & lawn workers…. everyone…. There will be “tip jars” in the dining room and the front office***

Other items:
If you have never taken the tour on how the Hike-Inn is run organically and Green, you need to do this… very fascinating & interesting… This tour usually starts promptly at 5:00 p.m. *** might be different this time so ask when you check in****
You may pack in alcohol however you must carry out anything you carry in so use plastic containers for less weight in your pack.
We will be playing LRC AFTER DINNER and AFTER THE PROGRAM... SO if you want to join in bring some $1.00 bills.
One more item:
If you have a Chattanooga Ski Club T-Shirt or hat or both, please bring with you for a “Group Picture”! I think this will be a Great Picture for the CSC Newsletter.

Hike-Inn Reservations
If you like to hike and have never done this before, you will love this fantastic moderate hike. The trail is well maintained without a lot of rocks or roots on the trail. It is uphill most of the five miles. You will need to carry your clothes and toiletries for the evening and the next morning. When you reach the Inn, you will fall in love with this place and will want to go back again. Awaiting you will be a delicious home-cooked dinner (family style) and a hearty breakfast. Alcohol can be packed in. For more info, see their website @ Hike-Inn.com. Be aware that what you carry in you must also carry out.
****. There is also a $10 per room tip that must be paid while you are at the Inn. Cancellation is up to 7 days out with a $10 per room cancellation fee.
