HEY THERE, HI THERE, HO THERE,

Have we all had a good 2023?

Well, it may not have been perfect so far, but we still have many reasons to be thankful that we are members of the ski club because of the many different and fun activities we have monthly.

The first week of every month we have a regular meeting at the Enclave, or we are getting ready for a big party. As everyone knows, our regular meetings are the best way to start the month, get in the mood for fun, and our parties are the best.

This summer on July 15, we have the social event of the year in Hamilton County being the annual  “Chattanooga Ski Club Lake Party,” which is always fun and a good time for all with or without the “Pain Killer,” punch that has enlightened and tortured many a soul for years. More info next month so look for it.

Looking forward to the Halloween and Christmas Party are just two more reasons to cheer and enjoy ourselves during the latter part of the year. Bourbon tours, hiking, and bike riding are all available with a trip down the Hiwassee and this year we have a rented VIP room at the Lookouts game just for us and friends August 25. Mark the August date on your calendar because we will be able to watch baseball inside or outside and that may be as good as it gets.

We also will have a booth set up for the ski club at Nightfall in early June and July. The promotion booth is a neat way to promote the club and meet people. Where else do you find comradery, community, and the perfecting the joy of living in one club? Look at our website and I am sure you will find something to become involved with.

SKI TRIPS 2024
Our trips are filling up so make sure you sign up sooner rather than later. Signing up for a trip now gets everyone thinking about snow and getting ready to ski. Nothing better in the summer than to think about the cold and snow.

POEM OF THE MONTH

Exhilaration
Rapidly down the mountainside,
The pure powdery snow spraying!
Nearer to vast sapphire skies,
And long ere a perplexed purple.
Bracing winds travel from afar,
And carelessly tousle the hair,
Long after the mists of orange,
In the treasured golden noon,
On the other side of the moon!
Enormous speeds are attained,
As wild laughter is trailing,
Like a first trip on ocean blue,
And the view from the railing.
Side to side in and out of trees,
Snow sprinkled, sunlit emeralds.
This could be the meaning of free,
Racing the wind no cares behind me!
